The Kwara State Government has ordered the immediate demolition of a dilapidated two-storey building in Oke-Suna area of Ilorin East Local Government Area over fears that it could collapse.
The directive was issued this Monday after officials of the Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA) inspected the building following complaints from residents about its deteriorating condition.
KWEPA General Manager, Jide Aina, described the structure as a serious threat to lives and property, ordering the owner to begin immediate demolition or risk government intervention.
The state government says it remains committed to protecting residents through strict safety enforcement and has urged the public to promptly report unsafe buildings and other environmental hazards for swift action.
