The Israeli military says they have struck an operational tunnel shaft and a mortar launch post in Gaza, in response to a number of launches targeted at their troops in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military said this late on Wednesday, also saying that it has identified a Palestinian fighter in the Strip using a UAV that the air force subsequently targeted and killed.

The Israeli military stationed in northern Israel and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon have reportedly traded fire since October 8. In recent months, the cross-border attacks have increased in frequency and severity, leading to a fear of a greater regional conflagration.
