Amid worsening insecurity, African Democratic Congress ( ADC) Presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, Atiku Abubakar, has said Nigerians now budget for ransom, the same way they budget for school fees.

Atiku, who decried the deplorable security situation in the country, accused the President Bola Tinubu administration of reckless borrowing, while Nigerians sink deeper into hunger, fear and despair.

The former Vice President, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, said it was particularly shameful that government officials continue to speak casually about debt while insecurity has reached alarming levels.

Furthermore, the ADC candidate, who accused the government of deploying propaganda to distract Nigerians from the consequences of alleged mismanagement of the economy, said no amount of media spin can conceal the frustration in the country.
