The Independent National Electoral Commission has published the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general elections online, following concerns expressed by Nigerians and stakeholders over its accessibility.
INEC announced the decision on Monday, saying the register, which was physically displayed at registration areas nationwide from October 9 to 15, would also be accessible through its online platform.
The Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, said the decision was aimed at ensuring transparency, accessibility and public confidence in the electoral process.
The final register however, is expected to be published on December 15, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
