The Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun has deployed the Special Intervention Squad, SIS, to the Federal Capital Territory to tackle the increasing activities of kidnappers and bandits in border towns within the territory.
Reports say scores of SIS operatives have been dispatched to the entry and exit points of the FCT to improve the security situation and they will be supported with an arsenal of operational assets, including sophisticated arms, drones, and vehicles.
This development follows recent reports of kidnappers killing their victims, including Folashade Ariyo, who was kidnapped alongside her mother and three siblings and Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, a 400-level student of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, who was kidnapped with her five sisters in Abuja.
