Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), on Tuesday has condemned the decision by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, to centralize hearing of cases relating to the state House of Assembly, National Assembly and governorship elections.
HURIWA National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko in a statement to newsmen has said while centralization may have been initiated with good intentions, it had caused unnecessary hardship and financial burden on individuals, who have to travel long distances to attend hearings.
Huriwa alleged it has resulted in a significant backlog of cases and created huge inconveniences for litigants and their legal representatives.
