FIFA President, Gianni Infantino has praised newly crowned Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Rivers United, for their historic feat.

Against all odds, the Port Harcourt based team emerged as the 2021/22 NPFL winners having missed the opportunity to do so in the last three seasons.

The FIFA boss sent his applause via a letter addressed to the President of Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick.

Infantino congratulated Rivers United FC for having been crowned 2021/22 champions of Nigeria, saying the title could not have been achieved without the entire teams hard work, passion and dedication

He also thanked the Federation for their contribution to the development and prosperity of football in Nigeria, and in Africa.
