Katsina Central Senator and the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Army, Abdulaziz Yar’adua has said the Federal Government is working on recruiting more security personnel to battle the rising crime rates in the country.
Yar’Adua, who spoke to newsmen this Friday said the number of security officers across different agencies are not up to one million, compared to the estimated population of 200 million.
He blamed the worsening criminalities across the country on the number of security personnel in Nigeria, saying criminals will have the upper hand because of the poor strength of the army, police, and other security agencies in Nigeria.
Yar Adua said 1 million police officers are not enough to secure this nation, but assured that plans are in place to correct the situation.
