Nigeria’s Justice Minister, Abubakar Malami has said the government will not interfere in the trial of Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife who are facing charges linked to an alleged organ harvesting plot.
He says it has never been the tradition of the Nigerian government to interfere on judicial matters, whether local or international. He also says that Nigeria has a mutual legal assistance understanding with the UK.
According to him if any request for international support is made by either the senator as an accused or suspect or the agencies in the UK , adequate assistance will be given.
Recall that Ike ekweremadu Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, are accused of taking a 21-year-old man from Nigeria to the UK to have his kidney removed so it could be given to their daughter.
The case will be heard by a high court judge in London in May 2023.
