FAAN reduces cargo charge at Lagos airport to N15/kg

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has revised the cargo port charge at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, to N15 per kilogram, following discussions with cargo handling stakeholders.

This announcement was made by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection in FAAN, Henry Agbebire, on the authority’s X handle this Tuesday.

The new tariff follows weeks of opposition from Customs Licensed Cargo Agents, who resisted an earlier proposal to increase the charge to N20 per kilogram, causing disruptions to cargo operations.

This prompted FAAN to enter negotiations aimed at reaching a compromise and restoring normal activity at the airport.

FAAN further noted that the adjustment was aimed at improving the ease of doing business at MMIA while supporting sustainable development and modernisation of the airport’s cargo infrastructure.
