South Africa’s ex-Olympic runner, Oscar Pistorius, has been released from jail on parole this Friday.

The department of correctional services says he has now been put into the system of Community Corrections.

It will be recalled that Pistorius was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 13 years in jail in 2017 for shooting his 29 year old girlfriend at the time, Steenkamp, killing her in the early hours of Valentine’s Day 2013.

He however pleaded not guilty and denied killing Steenkamp in a rage, but instead mistook her for a burglar.

As part of his parole, pistorious must undergo therapy for anger and gender-based violence issues, is banned from consuming alcohol and other substances, required to complete community service and also be home at certain hours of the day.
