Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Afam Osigwe, has said ethnicity and religion, once regarded as Nigeria’s strengths, have become major obstacles to national development.
Osigwe said this on Sunday at the opening ceremony of the NBA’s 66th Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
he urged lawyers to take a more active role in defending the Constitution, strengthening institutions, improving access to justice and promoting economic reforms through the rule of law.
Osigwe says that the legal profession must move beyond merely identifying national problems and focus on providing practical solutions.
