Ebonyi Assembly Bans Community Cleansing, Exposing of Witches

Ebonyi State House of Assembly has moved a motion banning all forms of Spiritual Crusade involving community Cleansing and fishing out of witches and wizards in the State without due approval from Security Agents and community leadership.

 

The ban follows an earlier report on interference with community peace and disruption of public activities resulting from the Christian Crusade organized by Prophet Ubadimma in Izzi Local Government Area of the State.

 

The report says following the accusation of a chief, John Ekpono by the prophet, an undisclosed amount of money, four residential buildings, properties worth millions of Naira, and other valuable items belonging to the Chief and his three wives were destroyed by the youths of the community.

 

The member representing Izzi West State Constituency, Godwin Abiri who moved the motion for the ban says such activities are capable of destroying the prevailing existing peace in the State under.

 

Our Correspondent in Ebonyi State Emmanuel Nnaji reports that the Speaker, Moses Odunwa put the motion to vote and it was unanimously adopted by the members.
