Women from Nembe in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have carried out a warning protest against Aiteo Eastern and Production Company, the operator of Oil Mining Licence 29 in that state.

The protesters who displayed placards at the company’s loading point this Friday, are demanding a clean-up following an oil spillage incident that occurred on Monday, June 17, 2024.

They are also seeking the provision of relief materials and payment of adequate compensation, among others.

The women, who started the protest at about 6.30 am this Friday, gave Aiteo a two-week ultimatum to meet their demands, saying if the company fails do so, they will fully occupy the company’s loading point at Nembe Creek.
