Governor of Rivers State Siminalayi Fubara, has called for speedy investigation of suspects arrested for crime to ensure that they did not get dumped in the correctional centers on awaiting trial list.

The Governor made this known when he received the House of Representatives Committee on Reformatory Institutions, led by its Chairman, Chinedu Ogah, on a courtesy visit to Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday.

Fubara said that he will place more demand on the Nigeria Police Force and the Judiciary to ensure that their institutions function effectively in achieving decongesting correctional centers and dispensing justice.

He said that his administration is focused on the need of Rivers people, saying that it is also mindful of the importance of integrating ex-convicts into the society.
