The White House says the US President, Joe Biden has tested positive for Covid-19 and is suffering mild symptoms which has caused him to cancel a campaign speech.

The president’s doctor, Kevin O’Connor, said this on Wednesday, saying Biden showed upper respiratory symptoms, including a runny nose and a cough, and has been given his first dose of Paxlovid.

Biden’s press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, says Biden will isolate at his home in Delaware while carrying out “all of his duties fully”.

Recall that Biden has been vaccinated and boosted, but has tested positive for Covid twice before.

This illness comes as Biden faces increasing pressure to step aside from the presidential race because of his age.
