The chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), in Edo state, Tony Aziegbemi, who was kidnapped on March 15, has been released by his abductors.
Reports say he was released this Tuesday by 3am after spending eleven days in captivity.
A former Senator representing Edo Central, Odion Ugbesia announced his release early this Tuesday but did not mention whether or not ransom was paid.
Recall that after Aziegbemi’s kidnap, a family source had said that the abductors made contact with his family, demanding N500m ransom for his release.
Nonetheless, Aziegbemi has spoken to newsmen saying although he was not maltreated by the kidnappers, he is happy to be back at home and reunited with his family.
