Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 300 Level student of Ebonyi State University, Ayogu Evans, who got into an accident while being chased by Police operatives. 

The spokesperson of Ebonyi State Police Command Onome Onovwakpoyeya says officers on a stop and search operation around Nkaliki road on the 2nd of December 2023, sighted a vehicle that was approaching their checkpoint but suddenly reversed and sped off.

She said the actions of the driver raised the suspicion of the officers which made them pursue the vehicle, but the driver did not stop till he was involved in an accident along Oriuzor road.

Our Correspondent in Ebonyi State, Emmanuel Nnaji, gathered that the Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Augustina Ogbodo, has assured the student leaders of the university that their concerns will be thoroughly investigated and anyone found culpable will be sanctioned accordingly.
