Delta Senator Calls for Resettlement Okuama Indigenes

The lawmaker representing Delta Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Ede Dafinone, has called for the rehabilitation and resettlement of the displaced people of Okuama community in Ewu Kingdom, Ughelli South Local Government Area of the State.

Recall that indigenes of Okuama fled the area following military operations after the killing of 17 army officers and soldiers who were sent there on a peace mission.

Dafinone, while speaking at a consultative meeting with the people of his constituency on Sunday, said he fully supports the investigations that the military is doing to find out those behind the killings, but also maintained that the community is now in a bad condition and its people need rehabilitation and  resettlement.

Nonetheless, he applauded the military for releasing the traditional ruler of Ewu Kingdom, Clement Ikolo, who was initially detained over the incident.
