The death toll from the devastating flood that occurred in Libya is still rising as rescue workers are reportedly appealing for more body bags while other residents are still desperately searching for missing relatives.
Spokesperson of the interior ministry in Libya, Lieutenant Tarek al-Kharraz says 3,840 deaths has been recorded so far, including 3,190 who have already been buried.
Meanwhile, the minister of civil aviation in the administration that runs eastern Libya, Hichem Abu Chkiouat says more than 5,300 dead have been counted so far, also saying the number is likely to increase significantly.
The Mayor of Derna, Abdulmenam al-Ghaithi also said the estimated number of deaths in the city could reach 18,000 to 20,000, based on the number of districts, destroyed by the flood.
