A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital has ordered that a 35-year-old man, Monday Ikeagwu, be remanded in a correctional centre for threatening to kill his mother.
The Magistrate in charge, Lillian Ogodo gave the order after the police charged Ikeagwu with threat to life and theft of N625,000 belonging to his mother, Jacinta.
The Police Prosecution Counsel, Chinagorom Eze, told the court that Ikeagwu committed the offence on February 7 at Obodoma Ekka community, in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Eze said Ikeagwu threatened to kill his mother with a gun after stealing N625,000 cash belonging to his mother.
Ogodo said the case file and all exhibits should be forwarded to the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice and adjourned the matter to March 29, 2024.
