The House of Representatives Committee’s Chairman on Delegated Legislation, Femi Bamisile, has alleged that the diversion of the Federal Government palliatives by state governments could be one of the main reasons behind the proposed nationwide protests
Bamisile, who represents Ekiti South Federal Constituency II, said this this Tuesday saying governors must complement what the federal government is doing by making sure that palliative items get to the targeted population.
Bamisile says presently, the federal government is distributing 740 truckloads of rice to the 774 local governments in the country, but unfortunately there have been reported cases of diversions of these palliatives in some states
He argued that this could be what is fueling the anger of youths planning to protest .
He advised those planning to protest to instead engage in dialogue with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, saying although the protests is intended to be peaceful, it may be hijacked by evil doers as witnessed during the ENDSARS Protest.
