The South East chapter of the Campaign for Democracy, as well as the Human Rights, Liberty Access and Peace Defenders’ Foundation, have asked Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, to conduct local government and market elections in the state.
The Executive Director, Dede Uzor, said this on Sunday, pointing out that since 1999 when democracy returned to the country, Anambra State has only organized two local government elections.
They say its “unconstitutional and unacceptable” the manner in which all the 21 Local Government Areas in the state are currently being run by caretaker chairmen who are appointed by the governors over the years.
