A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, has emerged as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, after defeating two other Senior Advocates, Lateef Akangbe and Olumuyiwa Akinboro, in the NBA’s 2026 national officers’ election. 

The Chairman of the Electoral Committee of the NBA, Aham Ejelam, announced the results at the NBA National Secretariat in Abuja on Sunday, declaring that Badejo-Okusanya polled 12,317 votes, representing 47.18 per cent of the total votes cast.

Reports say Badejo-Okusanya has now become the second woman to lead the NBA after Priscilla Kuye, who served as president between 1991 and 1992.

Meanwhile, the election has been criticised by some candidates and members of the association over the difficulties experienced by voters while attempting to cast their ballots.
