Ohanaeze Ndigbo has demanded that the presidential candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, retract the statement he made in Kaduna on Saturday and apologize to the Igbo extraction and Southern region in entirety.
Reports say Atiku, during an interactive session with the Arewa Joint Committee in Kaduna on Saturday, told his audience not to support a Yoruba or Igbo candidate saying what the average Northerner needs is somebody who’s from the North and also understands that part of the country.
The spokesperson for Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Alex Ogbonna, expressed disappointment in the speech saying it is provocative and it contradicts Atiku’s claims to being a cosmopolitan and detribalised Nigerian.
