An orphanage home in Anambra state, Arrow of God Community Children’s Home, has been sealed off by the state government for carrying out illegal child adoption.

Anambra state commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, said this on Wednesday, also saying that the licence of its owner has been withdrawn indefinitely, while 20 children, comprising 10 boys, nine girls and a newborn have been rescued from the facility and are currently in the ministry’s custody.

The closure of the orphanage follows an investigative report by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism on how the orphanage which is situated at Nkwelle Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area of the state had been involved in illegal child adoption.
