Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has formally announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He made the announcement this Friday, citing the larger interest of the people of the state and a desire to ensure the welfare and development of Adamawa residents, as the driving factor.
Fintiri’s announcement ends weeks of speculation about his political alignment and confirms his shift from the PDP to the APC, taking the APC-controlled states to 30 out of Nigeria’s 36 states.
Meanwhile, the PDP’s control narrows to Oyo, Bauchi and Zamfara, Anambra State remains under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Abia State is governed by the Labour Party, and Osun State is controlled by the Accord Party.
