A road accident in Plateau state, involving a bus, a commercial tricycle popularly known as Keke NAPEP, and a saloon car, has killed two persons and injured seven others.
The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Plateau State, Yakubu Longsan, spoke to newsmen on Sunday about the crash, saying it was due to overspeeding and reckless driving.
He said the two victims died at the scene after being trapped in the burning tricycle, while the seven injured persons have been taken to the Porter’s Orthopaedic Hospital, opposite the Air Force Girls Military School in Jos, for treatment.
The accident occurred on Sunday evening around Sabon Barki, when the speeding bus reportedly collided with the tricycle and the saloon car, causing the tricycle to catch fire.
Longsan further said the bus driver fled the scene, but efforts are ongoing to trace him.
