The Cross River State Police Command has called on Nigerians to respect law enforcement officers and stop assaulting policemen carrying out their lawful duties.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Eitokpah, said this on thursday,saying that while the police uniform is a symbol of public authority, there are human beings behind every badge who risk their lives daily to respond to emergencies, prevent crime and maintain public order.

He  further urged citizens to report misconduct, seek legal redress if an arrest is believed to be unlawful, and pursue genuine complaints through appropriate channels rather than resorting to violence.

eitokpah also charged police officers to see every encounter with citizens as an opportunity to strengthen public confidence, noting that the uniform demands discipline and the badge, responsibility.
