The Department of State Services, DSS, is set to re-arraign five suspected members of the Ansaru terrorist group over allegations of abducting pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State and the subsequent killing of two victims.
The suspects are to be re-arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja on a six-count amended charge filed by the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, on behalf of the Federal Government.
The suspects, who were scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, stalled the proceedings after the first defendant, Muhammad, objected to being represented by a lawyer from the Legal Aid Council and had insisted on being represented by their previous lawyer.
Following the development, Justice Ibrahim adjourned the matter until this Thursday for the defendants to be re-arraigned.
