Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has warned opposition parties in the state that they will face a stronger political challenge when the time comes.
Nwifuru issued the warning on Tuesday during the swearing-in of 13 newly elected local government council chairmen and their deputies in Abakaliki, the state capital.
He was responding to allegations by opposition parties that members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were harassing and intimidating political critics in that state.
Nwifuru also directed the newly sworn-in council chairmen to work towards strengthening the APC’s control at the grassroots ahead of the 2027 general elections.
