A candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, for the Esan West Constituency seat of the Edo State House of Assembly, Olu Martins, has called on the party leader to ensure equity, fairness and balance in the state.
Martins said this in an open letter addressed to the party leader, Seriake Dickson, saying the party needs to consider the views of various groups to be able to do well at the polls in 2027.
He said that since the party’s contender for the Edo Central Senatorial district, John Yakubu is from Esan North East, the House of Representative ticket should move to the other local government areas which share rights of exchange and representation with Esan North East.
He warned that it will be politically injurious to leave a whole local government area void of electoral representation when the practice has been to oscillate electoral offices between Esan North East (Uromi) and Esan South East (Ubiaja).
