President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State on his victory at the Ekiti state governorship election, urging opposition parties to rally around him for the success of the state.
Tinubu’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, released the President’s statement on Sunday saying Saturday’s Ekiti State governorship election was a clear vote of confidence in continuity, stability, and people-centred governance.
President Tinubu urged Governor Oyebanji to remain magnanimous in victory and to carry all Ekiti people along as he consolidates on his achievements in the next four years.
However, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the Ekiti State governorship election, Peter Obafemi, said the election was riddled with vote buying, while the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dare Abejide, described the election as a “bad day for democracy”.
