Tensions Rise as US Seizes Iranian Ship Ahead of Planned Peace Talks

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, says American forces have intercepted and seized an Iranian cargo ship accused of attempting to breach a blockade on Iran’s ports.

Trump stated that the vessel was given prior warning to halt but failed to comply, prompting the action by US forces.

In response, Iran’s top military command, Khatam al-Anbiya, condemned the move, describing it as a violation of an existing ceasefire and warning that Tehran would retaliate.

The development comes ahead of planned peace talks between the United States and Iran scheduled to take place in Pakistan on Monday. US Vice-President, JD Vance, is expected to lead the American delegation.

However, Iranian state media reports that Tehran may not participate in the talks, although officials have yet to give a definitive position.
