The Anambra State Chapter of the African Action Congress (AAC), has condemned the N5 million chairmanship Administrative fee, announced by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).
The Anambra State Publicity Secretary of the AAC, Anyanwu Anthony, says that by demanding such an amount of money, ANSIEC has effectively put the governance of the 21 Local Government Areas up for auction to the highest bidder.
He described the move as legalized extortion, a recipe for corruption and the death of meritocracy.
He urged ANSIEC to scrap the fees while calling on Ndi Anambra to join them in resisting what he described as the sale of the local governments to the elites.
