The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has announced plans to partner with the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, through its Liquefied Petroleum Gas Retailers Association, to enhance safety and curb illegal gas activities in the state.
The State Commandant, Maku Olatunde, said this, this Tuesday while hosting the union’s executives led by Tochukwu Ngini at the NSCDC State Headquarters in Awka, where he confirmed the collaboration.
Olatunde said the partnership would address the growing number of unregistered gas retailers, unsafe storage practices and poorly sited facilities, while urging operators to prioritise safety and comply with regulations to prevent disasters.
Ngini expressed concern over the circulation of substandard cylinders and high-propane LPG, pledging the union’s support for joint enforcement operations with the NSCDC to ensure compliance and protect lives and property in Anambra State.
