Kwara Police Say They Were Overwhelmed in Deadly Woro Attack

The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, says the police were overwhelmed during the violent and fatal attack by terrorists on Woro community in Kwara state.

Ejire-Adeyemi said this to newsmen this Friday after residents of the community alleged that they did not get any response from the police and other security agencies until after 10 hours.

Recall that the head of Woro village, Umar Salihu, had said to newsmen on Thursday that distress calls to authorities were made shortly after the attack began at about 5pm but soldiers only arrived about 3a.m the next morning after the terrorists had killed over 100 persons and fled.

In addition, the US Mission spoke to newsmen this Friday, describing the attack as horrific while the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, under the directive of President Bola Tinubu ordered the immediate deployment of tactical and intelligence teams to Kaiama and surrounding communities to restore calm and prevent further attacks.
