The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has stated that the former governor of kogi state,Yahaya Bello, remains innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.

The EFCC Director of Public Affairs, Wilson Uwuajeren, explained that criminal prosecution in Nigeria takes time and involves the presentation of witnesses and evidence before the court.

Uwuajeren said that the EFCC is currently presenting witnesses and documentary evidence in the case, saying that the outcome will be determined solely by the court.

This clarification followed public criticism over Bello’s declaration of interest in contesting the Kogi Central Senatorial seat in 2027.
