Anambra State Command Arrests Suspect for Armed Robbery and Defilement

The Anambra State Police Command says it has arrested a 20-year-old Chigbo Umeugokwe, in Achina, Aguata LGA, for armed robbery and defilement of a minor.

 

The Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, explained this Tuesday, that the suspect allegedly invaded a shop in the same community, on 29th October 2025 with a locally made single-barrel gun with a small axe and stole the sum of ₦30,000.

 

He also abducted a 13-year old girl, and forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

 

Ikenga says he was arrested by the operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Gender unit, Awka with the assistance of the local community security outfit.

 

During interrogations, the suspect made a voluntary confessional statement and some exhibits which include a locally made single-barrel gun, small axe and the shirt used as a face mask were recovered from him.
