The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, has said several people are still trapped after a two-storey building collapsed in the Oyingbo area of Lagos, early this Monday.

Adeseye, who confirmed the incident, said the Sari-Iganmu Fire Station team was immediately dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at about past midnight this Monday.

She said the building had previously shown signs of distress, and finally collapsed while residents were still inside.

She said so far, 15 people — including seven men, four women and four children — have been rescued with varying degrees of injuries and taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Ebute‑Metta and General Hospital, Odan in Lagos Island.
