The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed that 24 passengers were rescued from the Kogi boat accident.
NEMA said this in a post this Thursday, however saying 42 persons are still missing as search and rescue operations continue.
Recall that the accident occurred on Tuesday evening when a boat carrying about 80 passengers capsized on the River Niger.
Reports say the Director General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, has activated the Abuja Operations Office to support ongoing rescue efforts.
Yesterday, the Kogi government confirmed that 26 persons had died in the accident.
