Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has accused President Bola Tinubu of misrepresenting data to mask the country’s worsening economic realities.

In a post shared via his X platform this Monday, Obi referenced a comment made by Tinubu during the 2022 presidential campaign in Delta State, where he mocked his (Obi’s) emphasis on data and statistics, saying all they want to do is put food on the table of Nigerians.

Obi says now two years into President’s 4-year tenure, Nigeria is classified as one of the hungriest nations in the world with millions of Nigerians not knowing where their next meal will come from.

Obi says now President Tinubu is overfeeding Nigerians with wrong Statistics from wrong unemployment figures, wrong inflation figures, and now GDP debasing, all to put a positive spin on the nations’ deteriorating economic and household conditions.

He reiterated his long-held stance on governance, saying it requires sincerity of purpose, character, competence, capacity and compassion.
