The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, John Azuta-Mbata, has expressed condolences over the passing of the leader of Afenifere, Ayo Adebanjo.
The National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Ezechi Chukwu, said this to newsmen this Tuesday, saying Adebanjo was a charismatic leader, revered nationalist, and reputable statesman of impeccable character
Chukwu says Adebanjo left a legendary imprint as an icon of equity, fairness, and justice, devoid of self-seeking considerations, saying though they mourn his painful exit, they celebrate him as a model of true nationalism.
He says Adebanjo was a brother to Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and the Igbo nation by extension, saying he fought for an egalitarian Nigeria and consistently identified with the authentic struggles of the people.
Recall that Adebanjo died at his Lekki residence in Lagos on Friday, 14th February, 2025, at the age of 96.
