2023 : INEC To Deploy Additional Registration Machines
TO ENSURE THAT NO CITIZEN IS DISENFRANCHISED IN THE 2023 GENERAL ELECTIONS, THE INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION, INEC, HAS PROMISED TO BRING IN ADDITIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION MACHINES TO SOME STATES, ESPECIALLY ANAMBRA, WHERE THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF SURGE TO CLEAR UP THE QUEUES.
THE CHAIRMAN OF INEC, PROFESSOR MAHMOOD YAKUBU, WHO MADE THE PROMISE AT AN INTERACTIVE FORUM WITH ELECTORATES IN ABUJA, URGED THE ANAMBRA STATE RESIDENT ELECTORAL COMMISSIONER,TO LIAISE WITH SECURITY AGENCIES AND STAKEHOLDERS IN IHIALA, NNEWI, OGBARU AND AYAMELUM LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS WHERE CONTINUOUS VOTER REGISTRATION IS CURRENTLY SUSPENDED OWING TO INSECURITY TO ENSURE THAT THEY ARE OPENED FOR REGISTRATION.
HE FURTHER PROMISED THAT THE COMMISSION WILL ALWAYS LISTEN TO NIGERIANS AND WORK TOWARDS ADHERING TO THEIR DESIRES, SO AS TO HELP CONSOLIDATE DEMOCRACY.
THE CHAIRMAN PLEDGED THAT INEC WILL NOT DISENFRANCHISE NIGERIANS; HENCE IT WILL ENSURE THAT EVERY WILLING CITIZEN IS REGISTERED AND ISSUED PVC TO ENABLE HIM OR HER VOTE ON THE ELECTION DAY.
