THE UNITED STATES FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT-INTEGRATED HEALTH PROGRAM (USAID-IHP) HAS SAID IT HAS CONCLUDED PLANS TO BEGIN MASS COVID-19 VACCINATION IN EBONYI STATE
USAID-IHP MADE THIS KNOWN IN A MEETING HELD IN ABAKALIKI THE EBONYI STATE CAPITAL, ALONG WITH THE NEW MEMBER OF THE CONSORTIUM, SYDANI INITIATIVE FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, ENGAGED BY THE COMMISSIONER FOR HEALTH EBONYI STATE DR. DANIEL UMEZURIKE.
THE PROGRAMME OFFICERS CHUKWUEMEKA NEBE AND EZINNE OBETA SAID THAT THE VACCINATION WILL USE TWO STRATEGIC APPROACHES WHICH INCLUDE MASS VACCINATION, AND MOBILE/BUS OUTREACH.
CHUKWUEMEKA SAID THAT THE MASS VACCINATION TEAM WILL CONDUCT FIVE MASS VACCINATION SESSIONS PER DAY, AND 20 MASS VACCINATION SESSIONS WEEKLY FOR 5 AND A HALF MONTHS, WHILE THE MOBILE VACCINATION TEAM WILL VISIT 2 SETTLEMENTS PER DAY FOR FIVE WORKING DAYS IN THE SAME PERIOD.
HE SAID IT IS EXPECTED THAT WITHIN 22 WEEKS, THE TEAMS WOULD HAVE CONDUCTED 440 MASS VACCINATION AND 220 MOBILE OUTREACHES TARGETING A MINIMUM OF 50 PERSONS WITH COVID 19 AND 6 PERSONS, WITH ROUTINE IMMUNIZATION DAILY.
33,000 PEOPLE WILL BE REACHED WITH COVID-19 AND 3960 WITH ROUTINE IMMUNIZATION BY THE END OF THE EXERCISE.
RESPONDING, OUR CORRESPONDENT IN EBONYI STATE, EMMANUEL NNAJI, GATHERED THAT THE COMMISSIONER FOR HEALTH IN EBONYI STATE, DANIEL UMEZURIKE, URGED THE TEAM TO CARRY-OUT OUT THE ADVOCACY, TO THE CLERGY, TRADITIONAL RULERS, COMMUNITY MOBILIZERS, AND TOWN CRYERS AS THEY CAN CONTRIBUTE TO 60% OF OWNERSHIP AND SUSTAINABILITY.
Kwankwaso won’t serve as Peter Obi’s running mate — NNPP

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has dismissed reports that the presidential candidate of the party, Rabiu Kwankwasobhas accepted to be the running mate of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.
National Publicity Secretary of NNPP, Agbo Major, says contrary to reports, there was never a time such a discussion or negotiation was held between Kwankwaso and Obi.
Agbo Major, however, admitted that there is an alliance talk with the Labour Party on how to rescue the country’s democracy from failing totally.
Major described the report as misleading and embarrassing to the NNPP.
2022 WAFCON: Oparanozie Out Of Super Falcons Squad

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has announced that Desire Oparanozie will not feature at this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco next month.
Oparanozie’s exclusion from the squad was confirmed via NFF’s Twitter handle.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has said the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement between the Federal Government and the union has reached an advanced stage.
The union made this known in a memo signed by its National President, Emmanuel Osodeke, and made available to all branches of the union.
Osodeke, in the memo, noted that the union had a total of five meetings with the representatives of the Federal Government, while two meetings were held with the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.
Imo police arrest woman suspected for child slavery

The police in Imo State have confirmed the arrest of a 26-year-old woman, Victoria Nwosu, for allegedly abusing and enslaving her three stepchildren.
A video clip had gone viral on the Internet showing the three minors being chained and made to undergo mental and physical torture.
A concerned resident, who made the video, called on Nigerians to come to the rescue of the children.
Subsequently, the state chapter of the International Federation of Women Lawyers swung into action, which led to the arrest of the woman and her husband.
Confirming the arrest of the couple, the police spokesperson in the state, Micheal Abattam, said the children had been rescued and assured that the couple will be charged to court at the end of investigation.
